911 GT2 Evo

1996–1998Coupé

To take the GT2 into FIA GT1, Porsche built the GT2 Evo. A larger KKK K27 turbocharger set with 40.4 mm restrictors, a redesigned intake and exhaust, and optimized internals lifted the 3.6-litre flat-six to 600 PS, while the body gained an even higher rear wing, wider arches for GT1 tyres and extra cooling ducts; weight fell to about 1,100 kg. Production was tiny — nine to eleven race cars depending on the source — and a separate run of 21 road-legal Evolution cars at 450 PS is also recorded. The Evo was overtaken by the mid-engined 911 GT1.
