T-Hybrid Generation

T-Hybrid: 541 PS, an eTurbo and 400 volts

The 992.2 is the first 911 generation to carry a high-voltage electrical system, and Porsche's engineers arrived at the shortest possible route to it. Unveiled on 28 May 2024 alongside the revived Carrera, the debut model was the Carrera GTS with the T-Hybrid system: a 3.6-litre boxer with a single electrically assisted exhaust-gas turbocharger, a permanent-magnet synchronous motor buried inside the eight-speed PDK, and a 1.9 kWh, 400-volt battery no bigger than a conventional starter battery. The motor spins the turbo to speed before the exhaust gas arrives, so boost is instant — full system torque of 610 Nm is on tap below 2,000 rpm. Unlike a plug-in hybrid, the battery is never drained for propulsion; it is there to recover energy and to fill gaps. Porsche cites a weight penalty of just 50 kg over the outgoing GTS, against roughly eight times that for a typical PHEV.

The Carrera line was re-cut around the new powertrain. The base 992.2 Carrera keeps a 2,981 cc twin-turbo six — now with the old GTS turbochargers and Turbo-type intercooling for 394 PS — while the long-absent Carrera S returned in January 2025 with 480 PS, closing the gap to the old 992.1 GTS. All-wheel drive came back in July 2025 with the 473 hp Carrera 4S Coupé and Cabriolet and the Targa 4S, bringing the AWD count to six. There is deliberately no base Carrera 4: Porsche states the standard Carrera is not offered with all-wheel drive. The Turbo S followed at IAA Munich in September 2025, taking the T-Hybrid to its extreme with two eTurbos, 711 PS, 322 km/h and a 7:03.92 Nürburgring Nordschleife lap — about 14 seconds quicker than the 992.1 car despite carrying 85 kg more.

What the sources do not settle (10)

  • No 992.2 911 GT3 RS exists as an announced production model as of 2026-10-01 — only camouflaged prototypes are reported (see the gt3-rs variant entry)
  • No base 911 Carrera 4 (non-S) is offered for 992.2: Porsche states the standard Carrera is not available with all-wheel drive; the AWD range is Carrera 4S, Carrera 4S Cabriolet, Targa 4S, Carrera 4 GTS, Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet and Targa 4 GTS
  • No cumulative 992.2 production total published by Porsche
  • Official Porsche DIN unladen weights were not found for the 992.2 Carrera Cabriolet, Carrera S Cabriolet, Carrera 4S (Coupé/Cabriolet) or Targa 4S; US curb weights are recorded where available
  • 0–100 km/h figure for the 992.2 Targa 4S differs between sources (porsche.com International 3.5 s with Sport Chrono vs Wikipedia 3.3 s)
  • Porsche has not published official Nürburgring Nordschleife lap times for the 992.2 GT3, GT3 Touring or GT3 S/C
  • Porsche Excellence magazine issue 324 could not be retrieved from this environment; no figures in this file depend on it
  • 992.2 GT3 RS (roster id retained): no 992.2 911 GT3 RS has been announced as of 2026-10-03 — only camouflaged prototypes are reported (latest: Nürburgring spy shots, 23/09/2026). The variant is deliberately kept with every specification null and the note 'not announced as of 2026-10' in its year field; see the gt3-rs variant's missing[] notes
  • No 992.2-generation 911 RSR has been announced: newsroom.porsche.com carries no 992.2 RSR release (searched 2026-10-03) and the newest RSR material there is the 991-generation car's 2019 retrospective, so there is nothing to model
  • 911 Challenge (announced 26/08/2026) is a customer-motorsport car that combines 911 GT3 DNA with a racing engine for the 911 Cup series — a race car, not a road-legal variant, and deliberately not modelled here
