911 E 2.0

1969Coupé · Targa

The middle model that replaced the 911 L for one model year. For MY1969 the B-series line-up was simplified: the plain 911 and the 911 L were dropped and a new 911 E slotted in, distinguished by the arrival of Kugelfischer (later Bosch) mechanical fuel injection — a plunger-type fuel pump/distributor driven off the left camshaft by toothed belt, six injectors and six throttle butterflies. At 140 PS the E sat between the 110 PS T and the 170 PS S, and it was the first of the 911 T/E/S trio to satisfy the US EPA emissions standards, which is why Porsche calls them the first German cars to do so. Wider tyres on 6J-15 wheels came with the E.
