911 S 2.0

1967–1969Coupé · Targa

The first engine derivative of the 911 and the top of the range for the whole 2.0 era. Compression rose to 9.8:1 for 160 PS at 6,600 rpm, and the S introduced the five-spoke forged Fuchs alloy wheel — designed for the 911 R — which became a 911 signature. In 1969 the S gained the 57 mm longer wheelbase and Bosch mechanical fuel injection for 170 PS. Not sold in North America in 1968, when the 911 L covered that market instead. The 2.0 S also carried the factory's rally-homologation special, the 911 S/R, and its own race version, the 911 S/R. 1968 was the final short-wheelbase 911 model year.
