911 T 2.0

1967–1969Coupé · Targa

"Touring": the new entry-level 911, launched in October 1967 with the 901/03 — the only engine in 911 history built without crankshaft counterweights. It effectively replaced the four-cylinder 912 and was deliberately stripped: four-speed manual, steel wheels and cheaper equipment, with silver instead of gold badging to mark it as the base car. For MY1968 the T switched to the 901/13, which regained counterweights and the same 110 PS output, and became available with the Sportomatic. In Europe the 911 T was the cheapest 911 by a wide margin, and because its homologated weight was lower than the S, it became the basis for the factory's rally-homologation special, the 911 T/R.
