911 Cabriolet (Hebmüller)

1965Cabriolet

Porsche's own soft-top Cabriolet did not arrive until 1982, so the very few genuine open 911s of this era were coachbuilt conversions. The best known is the 1965 911 Cabriolet bodied by Karosseriewerk Hebmüller of Wülfrath — the firm that built the Volkswagen Hebmüller Cabriolet — as a commission under the works option M472, using 911 mechanicals with a full folding hood and a proper windscreen instead of the Targa's removable roof and roll bar. It is a road car, not a racing special, and it predates the Targa by two years. Beyond its 1965 build year and its coachbuilder, no factory specification, price or production tally could be confirmed from the sources consulted, so nothing further is claimed here.
