911 Carrera 4 Leichtbau

1991Coupé

The Carrera 4 Leichtbau is the rarest of all 964 Carrera variants, a one-year 1991 experiment in which Porsche combined the Carrera RS body with the 959-style all-wheel-drive system and drew on surplus components from the aborted 953 Paris-Dakar project. Only a handful were built, and because the parts were largely reused the programme never reached series scale. Stuttcars describes the car as powered by the 3.6 flat-six fettled to produce 300 hp, but that figure appears in no Porsche, press or encyclopaedic source located during this research, so it is recorded as unverified and the numeric power fields are left null. Contemporary cars are now extraordinarily valuable and the model is effectively unobtainable.

What the sources do not settle (5)

  • This variant id is an APPEND (not in data/roster.json). Note the id collides in shape with the 993 roster's “carrera-4s”; ids are generation-scoped, so this is safe.
  • The claimed 300 hp output is sourced only to Stuttcars and is unverified. powerPs/powerKw are null.
  • Production count conflicts: 20 (Elferspot) vs 22 (jtcars). Neither is a Porsche statement.
  • No verified torque, acceleration, top speed or curb weight; all left null.
  • The Wikipedia 964 article does not mention the Carrera 4 Leichtbau at all, so most of this entry rests on a single secondary source.
