911 Turbo

1995–1998Coupé

In 1995 the 911 Turbo entered its twin-turbo era. Two small KKK turbochargers spooling from about 2,000 rpm gave the 3.6-litre flat-six 408 PS and 540 Nm with far less lag than a single large unit, at 0.8 bar of boost. It was the first 911 Turbo with all-wheel drive, simplified from the 959, and the first production car in the world with OBD-II diagnostics — its engine also had the lowest emissions of any series-production unit at the time. Wide rear arches, a fixed intercooler wing and hollow-spoke 18-inch wheels marked it out. A six-speed manual was standard; 5,978 were built.
