911 Carrera

1997–2005Coupé · Cabriolet

The launch car of the water-cooled era: a 3.4-litre flat-six with four valves per cylinder, 300 PS and a 0–100 km/h sprint of 5.2 seconds in a body roughly 50 kg lighter than the 993 it replaced. It arrived as a coupé and cabriolet, rear-wheel drive, with either a six-speed manual or five-speed Tiptronic S. The 2002 facelift raised capacity to 3.6 litres and output to 320 PS, sharpened the front end with Turbo-derived lights, and rewrote the numbers: 4.9 seconds to 100 km/h and 286 km/h flat out.
