2006–2012Coupé

The 997 GT3 RS of 2006 was the first 911 RS model since 1973, conceived with racing in mind and now credited as the beginning of the tradition continued by today's GT3 RS. It stood 44 mm (1.7 in) wider at the rear than the standard Carrera, and its output rose to 415 PS (409 hp), with the 3.8-litre evolution reaching 450 PS (444 hp) at 8,250 rpm. The car became available across Europe in October 2006 and in the United States from March 2007, sold in white or orange with contrasting black wings. The redesigned model made its first public appearance at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, with a power-to-weight ratio of 2.34 kilograms per horsepower.
