911 Carrera Commemorative Edition

1988Coupé · Targa · Cabriolet

To mark the 250,000th 911, Porsche built 875 Commemorative Edition Carreras from the summer of 1987 for the 1988 model year — 505 Coupés, 165 Targas and 205 Cabriolets. All wore Diamond Blue Metallic with colour-matched 15-inch Fuchs, Silver Blue leather on the door panels, steering wheel and gearknob, and Ferry Porsche's signature stitched into the headrests; Coupés got a sliding sunroof and every car a glovebox anniversary plaque. Equipment included a short-throw shifter, sports suspension and the luxury carpet option. Of the total, 250 were earmarked for Germany, 300 for the US and 50 for the UK.

What the sources do not settle (3)

  • Model year is given as 1988 while Porsche Newsroom records the build as summer 1987 and some listings show 1987 deliveries.
  • 0–100 km/h not published for the Commemorative Edition; the standard 3.2 Coupé figure of 6.1 s applies mechanically but is not an official CE number.
  • Per-market split differs slightly between PCA (300 US / 325 RoW / 250 Germany) and stuttcars (300 US / 250 Germany / 50 UK); the totals do not reconcile.
