911 SC RS

1983–1984Coupé

The SC RS was Porsche's stopgap Group B rally car, created while the 959 was still in development. Announced in June 1983 as the "911 SC RS – Gruppe B", it used the outgoing 3.0-litre SC platform because the new 3.2 would have pushed it into a heavier class. The Type 930/18 engine ran 10.3:1 compression on Kugelfischer injection for 250–255 bhp on the road and around 270 bhp in rally trim, with a 960 kg minimum weight. Twenty homologation cars were built — a 21st followed — and Prodrive ran six of them for the Rothmans Porsche Rally Team.
