911 Turbo Flachbau

1982–1989Coupé · Targa · Cabriolet

The Flachbau (slantnose) was Porsche's Sonderwunsch answer to customers who wanted their Turbo to look like a 935. Steel front wings dropped the headlights into the bumper — pop-up lamps from 1983 — while louvred rear-wheel air intakes and a deep front spoiler with an integral oil cooler completed the transformation. First customer cars left the Restoration Department in Werks 1 in 1982; production ran in three generations to 1989, when M505 (US) and M506 (rest-of-world) cars were finally built on the main line. Porsche counts 948 in total. With the 330 PS kit it was the fastest 930, at 275 km/h (171 mph).
