911 Turbo 3.3 (930)

1978–1989Coupé · Targa · Cabriolet

For 1978 the Turbo grew to 3,299 cc and gained an air-to-air intercooler tucked under a re-profiled "tea tray" wing — the first production car to use one. Output rose to 300 PS (221 kW) at 5,500 rpm with 412 Nm, yet top speed only edged up to 260 km/h (162 mph) while kerb weight passed 1,300 kg. A Werksleistungssteigerung kit lifted output to 330 PS. From February 1987 Targa and Cabriolet bodies joined the range, and for 1989 the four-speed was finally replaced by a five-speed Getrag G50. Roughly 18,770 were built (Porsche's own figure is 17,792).
